Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Lately I was thinking that writing down your thoughts about how do you paint would be a good step to improve it. The mistakes you make, the objectives for the next artworks, what makes you feel proud of your last work - it all can be wrote down. I feel like I'm learning something new with every artwork I make. I am going to write about this from time to time in one or few sentences. It will be my Skills Journal ( I will uptade this page with every new thought ). Perhaps my own thoughts may help you with anything in your artistic activity. For some people, this may be something new or something obvious to others.

If you also write or you are going to write something similar, feel free to share. It is always a good opportunity to learn something from each other.

chyba cierpię na to ostatnie - czuje się wypalona, straciłam natchnienie i zniechęcam się do pracy nad rysunkiem już po kilku minutach. Wychodzi na to że faktycznie robię coś źle. Byłbyś w stanie wymyslić co powoduje taki stan? Co myślisz, że robisz źle, kiedy nudzisz się rysując? (bo absolutnie nie oczekuję, że odpowiesz w kontekście kogoś obcego

true words! I feel this could apply to more than just drawing too as far as "patience" and "boring" go. I do a lot of crafting and artisan stuff. Some creations take months to complete so patience and drive is definitely a must with stuff like that. If I want to make something, I really need to feel the want to do it otherwise I risk not wanting to finish it.

btw I bought your "Chrysalis The Dark Queen" fine print from welovefine! can't wait until it comes in.
